RABBIT PROJECT

The rabbit project will provide you with an opportunity to learn and practice a number of skills including:

• Communication
• Decision making
• Leadership
• Record keeping
• Responsibility
• Understanding and concern for living creatures

Other experiences you will have while participating in the rabbit project include:

• Learning to care for and raise your animals
• Learning about animal behavior, animal science, nutrition as well as health and disease control
• Sharing and learning from other members of your 4-H club

We usually do a community service activity by attending a convalescent home to share our rabbits. We attend rabbit shows that allow the rabbits to be judged and practice our showmanship. At the end of the year in June we attend our local fair where the rabbit will be judged and each member does showmanship. They have rabbit dress-up contests and Rabbit bowl quiz questions that members can participate in. We make decorations for the cages our rabbits will stay in while they are at fair.
